Requiem (Grant Them Your Peace)

A prayer song for the souls of the faithful departed, with the ancient Latin prayers for the dead woven through.

In loving memory of Louis William Ernest, Frank Romanelli and all our departed loved ones.

Show lyrics

Verse 1
O Lord, we gather in the quiet night,
To seek the comfort of Your endless light.
In manus tuas, we gently lay,
The souls of those You've called away.

Chorus
Requiem, requiem, grant them Your peace,
Where all the tears and the sorrows cease.
Let perpetual light upon them shine,
Held forever in Your love divine.
Dona eis requiem.

Verse 2
The empty spaces ache within our hearts,
A lingering echo when a life departs.
But faith reminds us, through the veil of grief,
In caelo quies, a sweet relief.

Chorus
Requiem, requiem, grant them Your peace,
Where all the tears and the sorrows cease.
Let perpetual light upon them shine,
Held forever in Your love divine.
Dona eis requiem.

Bridge
Through the shadows of our deepest pain,
We know the faithful will arise again.
In paradisum deducant te angeli,
May choirs of angels carry thee.
Wash every wound, let the broken find grace,
Until we meet them, face to face.

Outro
Lux aeterna, guide them home.
Never to suffer, never to roam.
Sleep in the Savior's tender embrace.
Requiescant in pace...
Rest now in peace.
Amen.

Lyrics by Jude Ernest. Latin phrases: traditional prayers for the dead (public domain).

Under the Blood

A song of protection for your home and the ones you love, asking Jesus, Mother Mary, and the holy angels to stand guard.

Show lyrics

Verse 1
Lord Jesus, I come to Your cross tonight
Weary and wanting Your holy light
Cover my home and the ones I love
Hold us close from heaven above

Chorus
Under the Blood, I am safe
No darkness can reach me
No fear can hold me
Jesus, You shield me
Under the Blood, I am free

Verse 2
Holy Spirit, show me where I need to forgive
Break every chain so my heart can live
Mother Mary, stand beside me
Angels of God, walk beside me

Chorus
Under the Blood, I am safe
No darkness can reach me
No fear can hold me
Jesus, You shield me
Under the Blood, I am free

Bridge
Holy angels, guard our door
Saints of heaven, pray once more
Seal us in the Blood of the Lamb
Father, Son and Spirit, I am Yours

Chorus
Under the Blood, I am safe
No darkness can reach me
No fear can hold me
Jesus, You shield me
Under the Blood, I am free

Outro
Jesus, cover us
Mary, pray for us
Holy angels, guard us
Amen

Lyrics by Jude Ernest.

Anima Christi (Soul of Christ)

A song of prayer after Communion, inspired by the 14th-century prayer Anima Christi, with its Latin lines woven through.

In loving memory of my Dad, Louis William Ernest, and Frank Romanelli.

Show lyrics

Intro
(Anima Christi, sanctifica me)
(Corpus Christi, salva me)

Verse 1
The last song has ended
Smoke lingers in the air
I stand in the oak stalls
Left alone in prayer
Cold stone beneath my feet
Quiet fills the space
I set down my burden
Standing in Your grace

Chorus
Soul of Christ, make me holy
Body of Christ, keep me whole
Water from Your side, wash me clean
Take complete control
When my spirit grows weary
Be my strength and stay
Hold me in Your mercy
Do not turn away

Verse 2
The altar candles soften
Fading into quiet light
I brought my broken pieces
To Your feet tonight
No longer just a singer
Giving You my voice
I offer up my living heart
I make Your love my choice

Chorus (optional)
Soul of Christ, make me holy
Body of Christ, keep me whole
Water from Your side, wash me clean
Take complete control
When my spirit grows weary
Be my strength and stay
Hold me in Your mercy
Do not turn away

Bridge
In Your sacred passion
Find me where I hide
(Aqua lateris Christi, lava me)
Guard me from the dark
Keep me at Your side
(In vulneribus tuis absconde me)
Hear my quiet cry
Draw me close to You

Chorus
Soul of Christ, make me holy
Body of Christ, keep me whole
Water from Your side, wash me clean
Take complete control
When my spirit grows weary
Be my strength and stay
Hold me in Your mercy
Do not turn away

Outro
(Sanctifica me)
Wash me clean
(Salva me)
Hold me close
Amen

Lyrics by Jude Ernest, inspired by the traditional prayer Anima Christi (public domain).

Health of the Sick (A Thanksgiving and Prayer for Pope Leo)

A prayer of thanksgiving to God, and a prayer to Our Lady, Health of the Sick, for Pope Leo's health, strength, and complete recovery, with thanks for every doctor, nurse, and person who prayed for him.

Show lyrics

Verse 1
Thank you, Lord, for Pope Leo,
Who leads us with a servant's heart.
He loves our Mother Mary,
He prays for peace, he prays for peace.

Pre-Chorus
Thank you for the hands that held him through the pain
For all who prayed and stayed
Every hand, the doctors and nurses that healed him
Every one who stayed awake
Bless them, Lord, for his sake

Chorus
Salus infirmorum, ora pro eo
Health of the sick, we thank you now
You kept our Peter in your arms
Now make him whole, Mother, and strong
Salus infirmorum, ora pro eo

Verse 2
He placed his papacy in Mary's hands,
At Fátima's holy shrine.
She never left his side,
She carried our prayers on high.

Verse 3
Lord, grant him full recovery,
Remission, strength, and peace.
Total healing, we pray,
Let all his suffering cease.
Saint Peregrine, pray for him,
Friend of the sick, hear our plea.

Bridge
Thank you, Lord, for every breath,
Thank you for each prayer,
For mothers who wept and strangers who prayed,
Thank you for your care.
Slowly, gently, thank you, Lord,
Let him walk in your peace.

Final Chorus
Salus infirmorum, ora pro eo
Thank you, Lord, for the gift of Pope Leo
Thank you, Mary, for your mother's care
Heal him fully, hand in hand
Keep him close in your love
Salus infirmorum, ora pro eo
Amen, amen, amen

Gregorian Outro
Deo gratias, Deo gratias.
Sancta Maria, Mater Dei,
ora pro Papa nostro Leone.
Salus infirmorum, ora pro eo.
Sancte Peregrine, ora pro eo.
Dominus conservet eum et vivificet eum,
et beatum faciat eum in terra.
Amen.

Sub Tuum Praesidium (Beneath Your Protection)

Based on the Sub Tuum Praesidium, the oldest known prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

In loving memory of my Dad, Louis William Ernest, and Frank Romanelli, who taught me this prayer.

Show lyrics

Verse 1
When the night is long and the storm is wide
And I've got nowhere left to hide
I lift my eyes, I call your name
Mother of mercy, I run again

Chorus
Sub tuum praesidium confugimus
Sancta Dei Genetrix
Beneath your mantle, I am safe
Beneath your love, I find my peace

Verse 2
Through the fire of a thousand years
Your children's prayers have dried the tears
From Egypt's sand to Rome's old stone
The same song rises: we're not alone

Chorus
Sub tuum praesidium confugimus
Sancta Dei Genetrix
Beneath your mantle, I am safe
Beneath your love, I find my peace

Bridge
Despise not our prayers in our need
Deliver us from every danger
O glorious and blessed Virgin

Final Chorus
Sub tuum praesidium confugimus
Sancta Dei Genetrix
Beneath your mantle, I am safe
Amen, amen, amen

Lyrics by Jude Ernest, based on the ancient prayer Sub Tuum Praesidium (public domain).

Prayers from the Channel

Pray Along

Prayers spoken on the Marian Bridge channel, shared here to pray at home, at work, or with your family.

Prayer for the Holy Souls in Purgatory

A one-minute prayer for the faithful departed, prayed on the Marian Bridge channel for All Souls.

In loving memory of Louis William Ernest, Frank Romanelli and all our departed loved ones.

Show the prayer

Lord God, we offer our prayers for the Holy Souls in Purgatory. Bring them swiftly into Your glorious presence. As they enter Your eternal bliss, may they never forget the friends on earth who helped them reach Your glory. Once they are saints in heaven, may they speak for us to the Holy Trinity, and mention our names to Christ and to Mary. May they pray that our passage through this life be safe, our time in purgatory brief, and our entrance into heaven swift and triumphant. May we, too, one day behold the beatific vision, and see You face to face through the endlessness of eternity.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. Amen.

Prayed on the Marian Bridge channel.

One Minute with Mary: A Prayer Through Her Apparitions

A short prayer that walks with Our Lady through seven of her apparitions, from Guadalupe to Champion, Wisconsin.

Show the prayer

Holy Mary, Mother of God...
At Guadalupe, you asked, "Am I not here, who am your Mother?"
At Knock, your silence spoke of hope.
At Montichiari, you called us to prayer.
At Velankanni, you comforted the weary.
At Lourdes, you taught us to pray for sinners.
At Fatima, you asked for the Rosary, and for peace.
At Champion, Wisconsin, you said, "Fear nothing. I will help you."

Mother, we leave all our worries, fears and anxieties at your feet. Protect us, save us and our families. Pray that we may be forgiven. Bring peace to our homes and to the world. Intercede for us, that God may provide for us according to His will. Pray for us, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
